We begin our tour in the city of Nice, driving along the “Promenade des Anglais” which became famous during la Belle époque at the end of the 18th century. English and Russian Aristocrats visited the city because of the moderate climate and the beautiful landscapes. We pass the harbor and discover the city from the hill Mont Boron, where Elton John has a residence. We then drive along the “moyenne corniche” and enjoy the panorama over Cap-Ferrat until Eze.
Eze is what some call an eagle’s nest as the village is embedded in the top of a hill at 427 meters above sea level. This town has been the favorite place for some artists like Bono from U2 and Nietzsche, who spent time in Eze writing part of his book, “Thus spoke Saratustra.” One of the restaurants in the village, “La chevre d’or,” has been the scene for several films, including the “Bucket List.” You will also have the opportunity to walk into an authentic medieval village with its shops and a botanical garden, where the old castle was located. You will have enough time to walk on the top where is placed the Botanique Garden.
We then continue on the “moyenne corniche” down to the old town of Monaco, where you will discover the second smallest country in the wod with just 3 square kilometers. We will visit the cathedral where Grace Kelly married Prince Rainiero. We will also see the Oceanographic Museum whose president was the legendary Jacques-Yves Cousteau and, finally, the Palace of the Grimaldi
family. From there we head to Monte Carlo, the capital of the rich and famous, where we will walk around the Casino Square surrounded by the Café de Paris and the famous Hotel de Paris. We can admire the most expensive cars and the peculiar visitors of the Casino.
After Monaco we will take the lower corniche, we will pass by the most beautiful villas (Eze les Roses, Bono’s Villa). We will take a walk in Villefranche sur Mer, situated nearn Nice and Saint Jean Cap Ferrat right in the heart of the most beautiful and rich part of the Cote d’Azur. Where the world’s millionaires love to spend their holidays and hide from the paparazzi’s. Villefranche is colourful village where you can visit the gardens of la « citadelle/fort » and walk tought a mediaval street called « la rue obscure or the dark street », under the village.
Finally, we will visit Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the pearl discovered by some young painters in the 1930s. A little village with international popularity, frequently visited by famous actors like Roger Moore or French actors such as Yves Montant and Simone Signoret. This town has stolen the hearts of many because of its blend of art and medieval history. You may admire works of art, craft shops, and find forgotten handicrafts occupations.
